Gregg Ficarra

Council Vice President, Councilman At-Large


Gregg Ficarra is a first term Councilman At-Large for the Township of Woodbridge. Gregg has been with the Perth Amboy School District for 28 years. He started as a Health and Physical Education teacher and for the last 20 years has served as the Director of Athletics and Supervisor of Health and Physical Education grades 6-12.

 
He is the Past President of the Director's of Athletics Association of New Jersey and is currently on the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association Executive Committee. Mr. Ficarra is the Chairman of the Raritan Bay Area YMCA Board of Directors and also sits on the Board of Heroes and Cool Kids, a statewide peer mentoring leadership program.

 
Among Gregg's many admirable qualities, his dedication and love for his family, his commitment to hard work, and finally, his love of country and community make Gregg an outstanding Councilman.

 

Councilman Ficarra is up again for re-election in November 2011.

-          Started Tour De Woodbridge Bike Tour and Run for Pizza Road Race

As a member of Mayor McCormac’s team, Gregg uses his background in athletics and fitness to promote Wellness and Healthy Lifestyles throughout Woodbridge Township.

The McCormac Team's Town-wide Accomplishments:

·         Cracked down on illegal housing

·         Increased property maintenance enforcement

·         Built a state-of-the-art animal shelter

·         Introduced free bulk waste pick-up and a recycling drop-off center

·         Improved parks and playgrounds and added open space

·         Shared and consolidated services with other municipalities and our school district

·         Installed solar panels on municipal buildings

·         Improved Senior Citizen programs such as Tommy Tool Box

·         Received recognition as a Wellness Community and a Preserve America Town

·         Brought more special events and arts programs to Woodbridge, such as a Farmers Market, Senior Olympics, Big Wheels Day, Music on Main, Woodbridge Idol, Woodbridge Youth Community Players, New Horizons Band and the Community Chorus
